About Us
Who We Are
Property Research Hub is an independent Australian property research directory, built to give home buyers, renters and investors access to the tools and resources they need to make better-informed decisions about one of the most significant financial commitments of their lives.
We built this site after noticing a frustrating gap in how property research information is organised in Australia. The tools buyers need (sold price data, flood maps, crime statistics, zoning information, NBN availability, noise monitoring, school catchment checkers, etc.) are all publicly available, but they’re scattered across dozens of different government portals, industry platforms and research databases. Finding them requires knowing they exist in the first place. For first home buyers in particular, that knowledge gap is real and consequential.
Property Research Hub exists to close that gap. We’ve done the work of finding and curating the most useful Australian property research tools across eight research categories, and brought them together in one place, so you can spend less time searching and more time researching the property that matters.
What We Cover
The directory is organised into eight research categories, each covering a distinct area of property due diligence.
Property Data & Pricing Tools
Sold prices, suburb trends, automated valuations and market analytics.
Livability
Walkability, school catchments, transport access, demographics and amenity proximity.
Crime & Safety
Suburb crime maps, offence statistics, emergency service locations and hospital access.
Climate & Environmental Hazards
Flood maps, bushfire risk, pollution facilities and long-term climate risk projections.
Noise Pollution
Aircraft flight path tracking, road and rail noise mapping.
Internet & Mobile Coverage
NBN connection type checks, mobile coverage across all major carriers, and tower location data.
Planning Zones & Development
Development application tracking, land title searches and underground utility plans.
Financial Calculator & Tools
Stamp duty, borrowing capacity, mortgage repayments, buying and selling cost calculators.
Each category page links directly to the relevant external tools, with a description of what each tool does and what it’s best used for. We also flag where tools are free versus paid.
How We Select the Tools on This Site
Not every property research tool in Australia is worth your time. Some are outdated. Some require paid subscriptions to access meaningful data. Some are useful only for professionals, not individual buyers. And some of the best tools, particularly those operated by Australian government agencies, are genuinely excellent but poorly promoted and difficult to find through a standard web search.
Every tool listed in this directory has been selected based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to Australian buyers and renters. We only list tools that are directly applicable to residential & commercial property research in Australia, either nationally or at a state and territory level.
- Accessibility. We prioritise tools that are free or offer a meaningful free tier.
- Data quality and source credibility. We give preference to tools that draw on official government data (state planning portals, ABS Census data, Airservices Australia, NBN Co) or established industry data providers.
- Active maintenance. We do not list tools that appear to be discontinued, outdated or no longer maintained.
- Practical utility. We assess each tool against the question: does this meaningfully help a buyer make a better decision? Tools that are technically available but provide limited actionable insight are not included.
We review and update the directory on an ongoing basis. If you are aware of a tool that should be listed, or if a listed tool has changed significantly or become unavailable, we welcome feedback via our Contact page.
Who This Site is For
Property Research Hub is designed for anyone navigating the Australian property market as a buyer, renter or investor, but it is built with first home buyers in mind.
Buying your first home in Australia involves a level of complexity that isn’t always obvious from the outside. Beyond finding a property you like and can afford, you’re navigating stamp duty calculations, borrowing capacity assessments, flood and bushfire risk checks, school catchment verification, planning and zoning research, building inspections and conveyancing, often for the first time, often simultaneously, and often under time pressure. The research gap between experienced buyers and first-time buyers is significant, and it can lead to decisions that are made with less information than the situation warrants.
This site is equally useful for:
- Owner-occupier upgraders moving to a new suburb or state who want to research an unfamiliar area.
- Property investors assessing suburb supply-demand dynamics, rental vacancy rates, development application activity and long-term climate risk before purchasing.
- Renters who want to check livability factors, NBN availability or noise exposure before signing a long-term lease.
- Existing owners researching their own area for refinancing, renovation planning, or understanding what is being proposed nearby through development applications
No account is required to browse the directory, and we do not charge for access to any of the resources listed here.

Get in Touch
We’re always looking to improve the directory, and the people best placed to tell us what’s missing are the buyers, renters and investors who are actively using it for research.
If you know of a property research tool, government resource or calculator that belongs in this directory and isn’t already listed, we’d genuinely like to hear about it. Similarly, if a tool we’ve listed has become outdated, changed significantly or is no longer available, please let us know so we can update or remove it.
We are also open to partnership enquiries from organisations whose work genuinely helps Australian buyers make more informed property decisions.
